Traditional Golf in Historical Style
Welcome to the Bodensee Hickory Society
The Bodensee Hickory Society is an association registered in Switzerland in March 2025. Its members are passionate hickory golf players, mostly from the international Lake Constance region. They regularly participate in national and international hickory tournaments and also organize their own events. Their goal is to experience golf as it was played in the 1920s and 1930s – with original clubs and period-appropriate clothing. The members, along with affiliated partner clubs, host tournaments where only clubs manufactured before 1935 with hickory wood shafts are used.
Gentlemen typically wear knickerbockers (Plus2 or Plus4), shirts, ties or bow ties, along with vests, jackets, and hats. Ladies dress in knee-length skirts, paired with blouses, jackets, and hats. Modern aids such as rangefinders, carts, and electric trolleys are not permitted in tournaments to preserve the authentic spirit of the game.
Our members not only cherish the traditions of the sport but also value camaraderie and the joy of playing together. The Bodensee Hickory Society thus uniquely combines nostalgia and sporting challenge.
